Fly spray...................?

is there anything i can make at home to help with flies..i know there is this fly spray that i know people use is skin so soft by avon,white vinegar and water, but is there anything else that works...i brought my horses a fly block to eat...the gnats are really bad and fly spray gets expensive if you are always spraying and buying it..any recipe would be great...
