How to keep flies away?

I have ton of flies flying around my house....so many in fact, that I can't even sit outside!! I think they are houseflies, but I'm not sure!! We have big flies, normal-sized flies, and teeny-tiny baby flies (possibly gnats). Please help!! Anything you know, or have heard about please post, because I am willing to try anything!! Thank you so much!!
