Attire for CASUAL, outdoor, evening wedding?

If it's going to be raining, I would wear the shorter dress instead of the maxi dress - you don't want your hem dragging through mud and wet grass! I'd also do flats or wedges instead of a heel since you'll be outside - your heels will sink into the ground and make walking around a chore, especially if the ground is wet.
